Biography: 

As AWARD’s Mentoring Coordinator, Dorothy Mukhebi taps her experience and well respected reputation among African agricultural research networks in order to identify the best possible mentor for each AWARD fellow.

Before joining AWARD, she served as Coordinator of the Regional Agricultural Information Network (RAIN) of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) based in Entebbe, Uganda. There, she supported capacity building in the national agricultural research systems (NARS), including development of a postgraduate program in agricultural information and communication management.

Dorothy started her career as a Planning Officer for the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture, spent ten years as Program Manager with the ACP/EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) based in Wageningen, The Netherlands. She has worked with the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), the Pesticide Management Research and Development Network (PESTNET), and also served as Second Vice President of the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD).

She holds an MSc in library and information studies from Loughborough University of Technology, UK, and a BSc in agriculture from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
