With participants reaching consensus of the role of partnerships in agricultural research, the second day will aim to further enhance their initial understanding of partnership challenges and success factors, and find consensus in order to develop an action agenda that will be taken to the GCARD 2010 Meeting in Montpellier.

The first half of the second day will explore the mechanics of partnerships, with participants forming working groups in order to explore: the role of major institutions; capacity building needs; governance and accountability requirements; and participants’ role in advancing effective research for development partnerships. The aim is for participants to agree on common principles for good management of partnerships.

The second part of this day will be dedicated to developing and prioritizing recommendations and actions to be presented to a wider constituency at GCARD 2010. The aim is for an action agenda, detailing specific recommendations to be identified in order to help advance both the formation of new, and improvement of existing agricultural partnerships.
